Dennis (David Michoel) was born in Boston, MA on May 20, 1963 and passed away on January 18, 2009.

 

Dennis earned a BS in economics from the University of Windsor, Ontario and a PH.D in geography from the University of Maryland, College Park.  Dennis had a successful career with the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC.

• He was an avid traveler, planning life in a way to make sure a trip was always possible. He traversed the world, visiting over 60 countries.  His passion for travel and exploration was passed on to his children.

• When traveling, he made it a point to seek out Jewish landmarks.

• His father, of blessed memory, was a holocaust survivor from Hungary. This gave Dennis a unique outlook on life, with an appreciation that resiliency often comes with grit as well as personal sacrifice.

• Dennis instilled positive values and ethics in his children emphasizing the importance of education and a world view, may those who are with us live and be well.

• He had a unique and special sense of humor, and a kind word for everyone. Truly a mentsch.

Aaron (Ephraim) was born in Olney, MD on May 7, 1997, and passed away on June 10, 2022.   This is a heartbreaking loss as he passed away at the young age of 25. 

• As a high spirited, curious child with an active imagination, Aaron always made those around him laugh and smile.

• He was an avid chess player enjoying the competition and challenge of learning new moves.  Often, he found life lessons in chess.

• As he grew older and more proficient in chess, he joyously mentored younger children to help improve their skills and strategies.

• Animal lover, intelligent, handsome and engaging best describe Aaron.

• Aaron lived courageously and with determination, inspiring family and friends to do mitzvot in his honor. Many people have already donned Tefillin in his honor, and hopefully, many more will continue to do so.

Chaim Aryeh Dovid Michoel, dear and beloved son of Yitzchok and Bracha Brown. 

• Passed away Erev Shabbos, 2 Tamuz 5782. 

• Was inspirational and brought joy to all those around him. 

• Was in a rehab facility since the age of 3 months.

• His parents were training in his medical care to be able to take him home to live with them. 

• He will always be the first-born son and member of the Brown family.

A note from the family:
It is inspiring to see how communities rally around each other in times of need or when trying to achieve a common goal. The goal of purchasing a new, elegant Torah for the Sarasota community is hopefully something that will last a very long time and will help bring people together.  "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O lord, make me dwell in safety."Psalms 4:8

 

Let’s embrace the message our dear loved ones have given us and make it into something even more beautiful - "The living shall take it to heart והחי ייתן על לבו - ״.

May we soon see the day of the Torah’s foretold resurrection of the dead and be united with all of our loved ones who have passed. We are especially excited in our times as the Rebbe has promised us that the redemption is so close in actuality.

With Hashem’s help, we will bring the Sarasota Chabad Jewish community together on the first yahrzeit of Aaron’s passing (also what would be his 26th birthday) to dedicate our new community Torah.
